Fresh off his breakout 38 point performance against Dallas last night, there’s a new buzz about a possible Brook Lopez trade for Dwight. The Magic, however, have someone else on their mind and he isn’t even a Center.
Rumor has it, theres a three way trade in the works that would send MONTA ELLIS to Orlando for Brook Lopez and Howard, as expected, to the Nets. This trade seems to work for all three teams. Howard gets to go where he wants without the Nets giving up much, and Orlando gets a legit superstar to take Dwights spot. But what about Goldenstate? Is trading Ellis really a good idea?
It probably is more for Ellis than GS. I always said Ellis could really reach his full potential (become an All-Star/get to the playoffs) on another team and not alongside Curry who is too similar of  a player. Ellis needs to be the main Star and the guy where ever he plays. That’s just the type of game he has. Maybe Orlando is the place for him.
However, I don’t think Ellis and Curry cannot work together. I’d say they were playing well together, and as a GS fan have my own issues with breaking up, in my opinion, the best backcourt duo in the game. But with Nate and Rookie Clay Thompson also playing well at the guard position there’s only so much minutes to go around. Having that many guards doesn’t make sense when you can’t use them. Moreover, the Warriors don’t need another scoring guard as much as they need a Center right now. David Lee and Lopez would make a solid front court. Clay Thompson, Curry and whoever else they get in next years draft lottery (Perry Jones?) would make Goldenstate a very good team. But that’s all wishful thinking…lets just see if the trade actually happens first.
