Fresh off their gold medal wining trip to London, some Team USA players opted to extend their trip abroad. While Kobe went to China and was treated like a God, Tyson Chandler choose a more humbling destination in Tanzinia where, alongside UNICEF, he served as a mentor for the young street kids, ran a Basketball workshop and volunteered at a health clinic for HIV positive women.

Chandler, who had previously never been to the continent of Africa, admitted to the trip as being a life changing experience:

“different stores like that are unbelievable. I don’t think you can walk away from the situation without having your life changed.”
