Neither Payton or Malone were reigning MVP's coming off a 60 win team...
Good point. Thats probably why it didn’t work out in the end. But they were still favored to win it all and should’ve. Looking back, it was a questionable move by the Lakers. But then again, their best teams have always been stacked in one way or another and no one seems to care…..
hi, do you know what artist person made the "magic goblin" picture you posted around halloween?
You know, I was starting to wonder where I got it from myself. A lot of people like it. I know I found it on some blog (non tumblr) a while back but I don’t remember where, sorry. If I do I’ll let you know. Maybe if it gets enough notes whoever did it will see it and I can find out that way….
The NBA season may be slowly slipping away, but College Basketball is now in full swing. With the Maui Invitational kicking off today, we finally get to see what a lot of teams are made of. Remember last year it was basically Kemba Walkers coming out party as UConn went on to win what was a great tournament. This years line up of games looks to be just as good. Before things really get started, I figure I’d give some early season predictions as well as my personal picks of teams to watch this year.
UCONN- No Kemba, but they’ve got “super sophomore” Jeremy Lamb to lead them this year. So far he’s had a very strong start. Can’t forget Shabazz Napier at the point either. He’s been impressive also, especially after last night’s triple double: 22points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds. You know Uconn’s still my favorite team so I’m ready to see if they can repeat this year. Competition will be tough though. Right now they’re ranked number 4 behind powerhouses UNC, UK and Ohio State.
DUKE-I’m not the biggest Duke fan, but I’ve come along ever since they got Curry last year. I’ll probably be watching Duke more than any other team this season though, soley because of Austin Rivers. I was a big fan of him in High school. So far he’s had a decent start. We haven’t seen the best of him yet. I can’t say his High school game has really translated to Duke’s system well, but there’s no doubt Coach K will make him into a great player.
Picking up off last season, Currys been really solid, especially from 3. Looks like hes shaping up to be another Trajon Langdon/Reddick type player. He’s clearly the leader of the team. Ryan Kelly’s also been impressive. I still can’t stand Dukes bigs, however. They’re a little too uncoordinated and un athletic for my taste which makes watching Duke sometimes difficult. Duke, as always, is a little overrated at number 6 but they have all the potential in the world. Who knows how far they’ll go this year.
BAYLOR- I’m really excited about watching Baylor this year. From what I’ve seen so far, QUINCY MILLER appears to be the real deal but I don’t wanna say he’s the best freshman in the class just yet…..In addition, there’s the other Quincy, ACY, and the junior college transfer, Pierre Jackson, both who compliment Millers game well. Plus they have a bunch of talent sitting on the bench waiting to play. A lot of people have high expectations for this years team. No surprise that Baylor’s currently ranked 10.
OHIO STATE- OSU, they really go with out saying cause everyone knows Sophomore Jared Sullinger from last year. This year he’s looking like the future number 1 pick in the NBA draft already. You can’t help but watch Ohio State. They are ranked 3rd overall and they’ve been blowing teams out so far by like 30 and 40 points. I’m curious to see what they do against Kentucky, North Carolina and Duke type competition though. It should be interesting….
INDIANA- I’m gonna go out on a limb here. I typically don’t watch them….ever. Indiana has the legendary name and coach, but that’s about it as far as I’m concerned. They were completely off my radar, but after talking some hoops with an “old head” in Church yesterday, I basically got put on to them. Of course, you gotta listen to your elders. So I did some research of my own to find out they have this freshman, Cody Zeller, who ain’t that bad….and he’s WHITE! No, but seriously he can ball and might be the next best thing since Jimmer. They are 4-0 so far with all wins by 20 points or more. Currently they are not ranked but you can expect that to change.
Other teams worth noting: North Carolina and Kentucky of course. Louisville is also one of my favorites. St. Johns. And don’t sleep on Michigan, they’re on the rise.
